Now, Cryotherapy was first discovered in 1978 by Dr. Yamauchi of Japan who started to trial freezing treatments of short duration to help aide the pain process in his patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. While trialling these methods, Dr. Yamauchi found that he could significantly reduce soreness and pain in his patients if he just used this cold therapy prior to manipulating their joints.
Fast forward 30+ years later to where we are today… There have been a multitude of studies done in Europe on the effects and safety of WBC which have shown very positive results, however, the information is just starting to come to life in the U.S.A.
The Impact Cryosauna systematically pushes an appropriate amount of gaseous nitrogen into the unit, effectively dropping the temperature within the unit between -166°F and -274°F. During this period of time, the thermoreceptors on your skin realize a temporary reduction in skin temperature and send signals to your brain saying, “Hey, I think we are about to freeze! Will you do something?” The body then goes through a series of physical reactions, including vasoconstriction, which helps to push the blood to your inner core, in order to protect your vital organs. The treatment lasts a maximum of 3 minutes and once complete, you exit the cryosauna and your body temperature begins to return to its baseline. Due to the mechanism of action, there is a release of endorphins that gives you energy and helps with mood stabilization and sleep. In addition, your blood is now theoretically more oxygenized and nutrient rich than before, allowing your body’s natural inflammation reducing processes to target areas of need.
We will guide you to the private changing room where you will disrobe (remove everything except undergarments) and put on a pair of gloves, socks, slippers and a robe that we will provide for you.
We will bring you to the Cryosauna where your Certified Cryo Therapist will guide you through the session. Once in the Cryosauna you will hand your robe to the technician.
The technician will then start your session and cold dry air will surround your body for 2-3 minutes, during which time the surface temperature on your skin will drop significantly and trigger the body to begin the cryo reaction process.
Upon exiting the Cryosauna, your body will begin to warm up and reset to baseline, allowing the newly enriched blood to return to your skin surface, muscle tissues and joints.
Recommendations vary depending on your condition, but we recommend a series of at least ~10 treatments in close succession initially for optimal results. Following that, we recommend treatment 2-3 times per week (or more) to help maintain your desired goal.
Yes, WBC has been utilized in Europe for over 30 years without any major adverse reactions.

Yes, in the United States, studies are ongoing, however, there are a large number of studies conducted overseas that show the positive impact and benefits WBC can have on an individual. In 2015, Dr. James Andrews, renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon, announced his support of WBC and currently serves as the Chairman to Impact Cryotherapy (where our unit is produced). See our research page for more info!
Nitrogen is a non-toxic gas so it is perfectly safe. In fact, the air we breathe is made up of ~78% Nitrogen. Furthermore, your head remains outside the chamber reducing the amount of nitrogen inhaled.

Just your undergarments. Males and females can remain in their underwear. For females, a bra is optional but it must not include an underwire. You get the best results when more skin is exposed. We will provide a robe, gloves, socks and slippers to protect the extremities.
The cryosauna uses gaseous nitrogen so it is dry. Most people anticipate the treatment to be worse than it actually is. In fact, a lot of people feel very invigorated during and after the treatment
As a seasoned RN himself, Tom, owner at CryoPure, puts a large emphasis on safety, and thus, we will restrict individuals with certain medical conditions from entering the cryosauna. A list of the conditions is below: (Including but not limited to…)
